Forever In Blue Jeans

Cade was a professional photographer last week. Just see what magic he captured. And like any good photographer, they never seem to be in the photos. Hey- wait a second- isn't that the whole point of THIS challenge??? (wink...) He actually was able to get in one of them!

52 Weeks is a year long challenge for Mom (that’s me) to be in a picture once a week for 52 weeks. We are always the ones behind the camera, this is my chance to get out in front and be in the pictures with my family. Click on the button above to see other Mother’s that are taking part in the challenge – and we all know it IS a challenge.

Not Me Monday...

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama.

I would never think of holding out my hand in front of Cade's mouth so he could spit out his gum before eating his snack. I mean, I don't even touch my gum outside my mouth.

I did not spend 30 minutes on Friday evening removing the overcooked egg noodles from my Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup. First of all I never overcook anything. Which is why the chicken noodle soup is still in my refrigerator with a brand new batch of cooked just right egg noodles added back in. It was a Kitchen Emergency 101.

I did not sew up the bum & tail of a very loved, very mangy stuffed dog so it's insides will stop spilling out.

And last, I did not start openly weeping yesterday as my very gangly now seven year old finally mastered a bicycle. Nope- Not ME! Some may feel that is to old- but for Cade it was just right and he was finally ready!

So go forth an create your own Not Me! Monday moments. I can't wait to hear all about them.

One Proud Moment...

As parents there are milestones in our children's lives that we strive to help them to accomplish. Their first word, their first step, their first tooth, their first day of kindergarten, and the list goes on...

We'll today was one of those moments and I had tears in my eyes as a watched my baby. So very, very proud. I hope you enjoy!

And tomorrow, we'll work on his skills!

We did what???

Here is a real quick story.

I have to get it down.

It made me chuckle.

Of course, the light bulb in our heads should of gone off before we 'released him' really.

We went on a family trip to...hold on one more minute, Morgan just asked me for a snack. I will be right back...

Okay... so we went on a family trip to the beach today. Morgan is the only Rowan that has rubber boots to wade into the water and I insisted that he wear them. Can't have a complaining 3 year old with wet tootsies now!

So we arrive at the beach and it is extremely low tide; lower than I have ever seen before today. So we piled out of the car with all our gear and made our way over the drfit wood to the waterfront...and that is when it happened.

A huge sandbar had appeared at low tide and there was a finger of water maybe 6-12 inches deep that circled back parallel with the bar. Morgan went running off into the water while the other 3 Rowan's watched in awe.

Bob: "Huh huh huh...There he goes. And not a single one of us can follow him."

Note to self...1. Buy rubber boots for the entire family.

Enjoy the pictures.

This is taken on the sandbar. The finger of water is to the right in this photo.

The 3 Rowan's that don't have rubber boots.

And this one...well, I took it because I love the pattern the water makes in the sand. This is a close-up of the and on the sandbar.

Enjoy the rest of your day...ours is just a little more sandy!

5 on Friday...

Here I go, introducing '5 on Friday'.

This is my way of showing you some of the crazy things that go through my head (and the thinkers I look up just to fool my boys into thinking I've got the smarts!) Each Friday I am going to bring you my very own '5 on Friday' which will consist of 5 subjects that you can discuss with your children for both learning and laughing. I hope you enjoy and join in with your own if you like!

1. Geography
The Planet's Three Longest Rivers are (approximate distances as people fight about this still):
The Nile 4,130 miles
The Amazon 4,000 miles
The Yangtze 3,915 miles

Here's how you remember them- It's not 'Just say No'...it's Just say 'NAY'. Not only will you remember them, but you will know them in order of length.

2. Laughin'
Question: Why did the chicken get in trouble?
Answer: Because it was using 'fowl' language... hee hee

3. Useless Fact
A snail can sleep for 3 years.
So my question is how long can he stay awake???

4. Comics
In October 1939, Marvel Comics #1 was released which showcased the Human Torch (the original HT was an android, and I am sure not as fine looking as the current day Johnny Storm- off topic sorry...) and Namor the Sub-Mariner (he can breathe air AND water).

As an aside- I know NOTHING about the comics. Considering I have two boys and a husband who is an avid Comics lover- I am doing this section for ME so that they think I am one coooool Mama.

5. Pictionary
Forestry 101- What type of tree is on the left?

It is a Western Hemlock. One of the distinguishing features of the Hemlock is a drooping or hooking top. (Bob & I learned this on a camping trip from the local forest ranger- cool huh?) The tree on the right is a Douglas Fir which stands rigid. Next time you are driving in the mountains you can point this tree out to your friends, and they will think you are o-so-smarty-pants. Oh- and I will pay someone to come remove the 75' one from our yard- it not so good for the grass...

Now go pass along this new knowledge until next week...

Forever In Blue Jeans

Morgan and I clowning around...

Sorry for the picture quality...I have to use one of my favorite phrases here, "You get what you get and you don't throw a fit." In other words, I am just luck I got it because Morgan is never crazy about getting his mug taken!

Sometimes...

...all a little boy needs to feel better is a balloon.

This is taken outside the doctor's office as we are now on day 7 of a high fever ranging from 102. This kept him happy for a little while.

I am getting the strange feeling that this little boy has allergies, unless it is normal for your eyes to swell up after being outside for 30 minutes. hmmmm... Only time will tell.

Until then, thank you over the counter Claritin...it seems to be working thus far- along with Tylenol and Mortin. I am a regular drug store.

Quirky Weekend Yes & No Session...

Okay, prepare yourself. The below photos may make you laugh so don't go taking a drink while reading...at least that is my suggestion- it's hard to clean wet things off computers...

Yes, Cade did lose his tooth which allows him to talk with a very cute lispe. Please ingore the green food coloring- that is left over from his afternoon of 'science experiments' in the sink.

No, I did not tie his tooth to the door and then slam it to get it out. That is so 1970's...

Yes, those dinosaurs are going for a piggy back ride. What else could they possibly be doing?

No, I did not laugh out loud when I saw this. I was nice enough to bury my face in the sofa cushion so as not to offend Morgan. He was so proud.

Yes, the before and after was Morgan's idea.

No, I do not think there are too many magnets and papers hanging from my refrigerator.

Yes, Cade did take this picture. He has apparently mastered the art of Bokeh.

No, I have not mastered how to use my stinkin' camera- let alone work on even understanding the definition of Bokeh.

Yes, I did let Cade take the camera so that he could have a photography session.

No, I did not know he was going to photograph Morgan spitting out water. Pretty good action shot.

Yes, Morgan is showing off his muscles and his ability to 'lift' heavy bubbles wearing only underwear, socks, and of course shoes.

No, I am not embarressed by how dirty my mirror is in this picture. Ummm, it is now clean by the way- my MIL can vouche for me.

And lastly-

Yes, I did go into shock when Morgan jumped off the foot board of the bed and and bounced like a rubber ball.

No, I do not normally let my boys do that. At least now I know why it was so quite in the back of the house.

Here's to quirky and my wonderful life...

Before 40 List- Number Two...

So did you miss 'My List of things to do before I turn 40' blog the past couple of weeks? Yeah, me too.

So without further delay here is...

Number Two:

'I will dye my hair blonde.'

Ohhhh boy oh boy! I am going to love this one. I will most likely have to do something about the eyebrows too. I really don't want to be that girl with the noticably big contrast. I know it's fake, but those strangers around me don't need to know.

So you are probably asking 'Why would you want to do that?' Sooooo, glad you asked.

(1) My husband has done it, so I can't be topped by him. Of course dear, you did shave your head too so that one you have won.
(2) I already dye my hair, so instead of brownish-red why not give blonde a try for kicks. They have more fun right???

and my favorite by far....

(3) I just want to freak everyone out and make them think I am having a mid-life crisis. And don't you dare tell me you weren't thinking the same thing when you began reading this post...

So there you have it - Number #2. Oh, and I am planning on having my list added to the sidebar soon so you all can see how crazy fun I can be! Really, I can.

And Jen- if you are out there lurking- you are so going to be holding my hand through this nutty number...

Here's to life and living it...

Spring Fling Update...Did you find me???

Hi Everyone!

So if you are interested in reading my 'Favorite girly thing I can not live without' you can find it over on Ben + Erin = Samantha & Ryan. Stay tuned as I am working on a quirky post for this evening.

Till Then...

Spring Fling 2009...

Welcome to Sara's Spring Fling! This is a great blog carnival organized by Sara. Head over to her site to check out all the wacky bloggers that decided to play along...Now without further delay, check out my guest blogger below...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm so excited I almost wet my pants.
No, that has nothing to do with what item I just can't live without.
I actually had a really hard time with this at first. Even Superman will tell you that I'm not the girly girl type. I'm more comfortable in his frumpy shirts, I don't like lipstick and sometimes I could use a good kick-butt action movie. So what in the world is something girly that I just can't live without?
At first I thought I'd just do this.
Because it is one of my true loves. But it just didn't feel right. I actually thought of doing the same with Superman, but he didn't want to me to put a ribbon on him. Or be plastered all over the internet as "something girly" I just can't live without.
Then I thought about this.
It still wasn't right. Obviously I use this religiously since I have 2 almost empty cases. But even the workers at my local Wal-mart could tell you that sometimes I skip it when I just have to make a quick stop there.
But then. The hallelujah chorus sounded as I laid my eyes on this.
I understand that more and more men are taking up knitting these days, so this might not be the girliest thing to talk about. But I do love it so.
There is nothing better than sitting down at night with Superman, putting a movie in and knitting my way through the whole movie. And it doesn't matter how many times I've seen the same ol' yarn at my Wal-mart, I still have to stroll down that aisle each time just to look at it.
Knitting. Yarn. Awesomeness. I'll probably still love it when my hands are crippled with arthritis.
Or maybe by then I'll just be happy with my Dr. Pepper and still not wetting my pants.
Father and son...
