Forever In Blue Jeans

So I am a soccer Mom, but luckily Bob is a soccer Dad too. (He is the coach!) These pictures were taken Wednesday evening in the final spring soccer game of the season (yeah! That means summer is right around the corner.) I spend most of my time running after or occupying Morgan during the games so I get to see very little of the action. Tonight though, I did get to see Cade score a goal. He is one good runner!

Yes and No Session...

No, I did not watch Star Trek only once over the weekend. I watched it twice. It is so very good.
Yes, I did accidiently go to the wrong theater and ask for a ticket to Star Trek...I soooo spacy sometimes.

No, I do not let my youngest go into a Port-a-Potty by himself. He might actually touch something, or worse- fall in.
Yes, I did accidentally sit in the urinal part of the Port-a-Potty while helping my youngest. I assure you it is nasty.

No, I did not finish pulling all of the weeds out of my front bed. I did get two of the beds finished though.
Yes, I am extremely sore from it all- even my finger nails hurt.

No, I did not fold my laundry this weekend...well, I did get to it Sunday Night actually.
Yes, I did pile it on my bed before our cook-out to get it out of the living room- All five loads of it. It was an impressive mountain on the bed. I even showed my girlfriends because they do the same thing...well one of them does at least.

No, I have not finished my book for this month's book club meeting.
Yes, It is an absolutely awful book we are reading. If I read 10 pages a day I am proud. Why did I decide to do this when at heart I am just a cheap romance reader??? I mean I like vampires and wizards for goodness sake. Reading about poverty in India is sucking the life out of me.

No, I am not ashamed for feeding my youngest an entire pint of strawberries.
Yes, he was opening his mouth like a bird so that I could feed him. And Yes! He actually was making bird sounds...

No, I did not enjoy myself at Cade's open house at school. IT WAS CRAZY!!!! Two boys + me = stress
Yes, Cade did 'help' make the dragon as a gift to his school.

There you go! Enough No's and Yes's for one day...We are off on a bike ride.

This post is dedicated to Matt...

We had a weekend of cook-outs like most Americans across the US. Last night's cook-out was at our house with a great turnout of 15 kids and adults. FUN!

The Kids? We pulled out all the toys and the kids went bonkers for 3 hours.

And the Adults? Well, we ate of course!

Now it's the day after and my favorite part is.... the leftovers. We had Copper River Salmon, a Brisket (to die for...thank you Mom for the recipe) and shrimp skewers. The Brisket and Shrimp met their match last night, but the salmon came off the grill after everyone was bulging at the seams so we had lots left over.

So what did we do???? Check out the photos below!

Copper River Salmon Burgers
3/4 lbs salmon, flaked
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1 tsp minced garlic
2 eggs, beaten
2 tsp Old Bay Seasoning
2 Tbsp fresh chives
1 Tbsp dried dillchopped
1 tsp Tabasco sauce
1 lemon, zested and juiced

Combine all the ingredients, patty them out and cook in olive oil. Then bite into the wonderful concoction. And for the Wookie- It goes really well with canned peas and pumpkin pie. hee hee...

For us other members of the republic- it goes better with Caesar Salad and sliced fruit.

Enjoy...

These were "taken" by...you guessed it Chuck E Cheese. I know you are all brilliant for knowing this, it is not just because it's written on the paper - 7 times. That rat sure can draw, huh? The boys had a great time and walked away with some pretty worthless 1 day carny (carnival) toys. That's what we call them - because that is about there lifecycle in this household. Cade's eyes in both of these "photos" are priceless...

Thank you Carin for this fantastic blog carnival. Pick up your camera now before it is too late and those rugrats are all grown!

Mouth watering...

So I have been a mother for 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 years now. WOW!

Let's rewind back to before children. Back to a time when we use to cook and eat GOOD food at home. Now Bob and I still get the occasional nice meal out, but I am not talking about going out...I'm talking about eating in.

How many of you had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich this week?

How about sneaking a Dorito while fixing a school lunch?

What about eating a ham sandwich without crust?

Or even better, drank a juice box???

So, I have to believe it's not just me out there that isn't cooking as good as she or he did before children.

So tonight...I turned things around and it was easy.

Just throw together 1T olive oil, 2 shallots, 1T fresh thyme, 8-10 fresh basil leaves, 15-20 grape tomatoes, 15-20 shrimps, salt, pepper to taste and you have yourself a killer pasta sauce (low points too for you weightwatcher folks out there).

I mixed it with whole wheat pasta and voila'! It was mouth watering...

So I proved to myself that I can still cook good, tasty, healthy food that doesn't come in a box. Thank you very much! Oh and that is all mine! I made it up so if it sounds good I hope you try it.

I always wanted to be a foody...hopefully I can get there someday.

Happy Eating...

Not Me Monday...

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week. *Warning: There are a lot of people out there with Not me Tendancies...*

On Friday we celebrated Morgan's 4th Birthday at daycare. So I left work at 2:15 so I could be there for the 3:00 party with plenty of time to spare. I DID NOT start crying like a little baby and punch my car when I discovered that I had left my lights on (I think) and my battery was dead.

One of my friend's boyfriends was nice enough to give my car a jump, but it was too late. So I did not promptly head home and fall asleep so I did not have to face my sadness. Nope, not me! Thankfully I have a wonderful hubby that filmed the whole event.

I did not start laughing at my youngest son when I noticed where he had been wiping his Dorito dusted hands...no way to hide the evidence, the front of his underwear was orange.

And that's all I did not do this week...go forst and make your own Not Me moments and please share with us all!

I dare you not to smile...

It's faces like these...

...that help us remember why we are mothers.

Whether we are good or bad- I am sure they will let us know one day- they love us for our flawed ways anyway.

We were playing in the adjacent condominium's play area and ran into two of their friends. They enjoyed themselves so much!

Of course, it could of just been the fact that they were terrorizing the neighbor's cat. It brought back memories of when my sister and I dressed our cat up in doll clothes...or when we dropped her out of the second story window with our homemade parachute...oh, I am sure we had the same looks on our faces that day as my boys have here...good time by all.

I love my boys...

5 on Friday...

It's 5 on Friday...

Here's 5 subjects that you can discuss with your children for both learning and laughing. I hope you enjoy and join in with your own family if you like!

1. Geography
Which state is this national monument located?

That's right it is in South Dakota. Bob and I did a Memorial Day road trip in 1997. It took us through a large loop of South Dakota and Wyoming before making our way back home to Denver, CO. It truly was an amazing sight to see.

2. Laughin'
Question: Why did Tigger look inside the toilet?
Answer: He was looking for Pooh!

As a mother of two boys I could not resist this joke...but there is something else that happened this week that was unbelieable. I work for a firm with over 550 people. There was a sign mounted on the Women's Restroom that read as follows:

Restroom Etiquette 101
1. If using a paper seat cover make sure that it flushes complete before exiting the stall especially if you poo.
2. If you poo make sure that it has completely flushed and reflush if necessary to remove all evidence.

Poo???? First, I laughed. Then I could not believe someone could be so crass. Needless to say the note that had been so neatly typed had been removed before the end of the day. Lovely...

3. Useless Fact...
Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia is the fear of long words.

ummmm. So what do you tell the person who suffers from this phobia? I fear telling them the name would send them over the edge.

Now, if I where to have guessed its meaning: Fear of Hippos! I would have failed Latin class as my mind is too simple...

4. Comics
Did Charlie Brown ever get to kick the football???

No! He didn't. on February 12, 2000 Charles Schultz passed away and his final strip was published that Sunday, 2/13...which made me cry like a baby. He was from one of my favorite cities (Minneapolis, MN) and they used to have Snoopy statues that were decorated/painted by various talents in the area. I think some of them still exist and they are great fun to see.

5. Pictionary
Culinary 101- Is the below item a fruit or a vegetable?

It's a fruit...so what is the difference? In simplest terms, the fruit is the ovaries of the plant. The vegetable is everything else. Some fruits that are mistaken as vegetables - tomato, squash, green beans, peas, eggplant, cucumber and nuts. And that one- I learned a lot on...

Okay go forth and share your knowledge...until next week.

So first we have set-up...one squirming soon to be 4 year old and one 7 year old being placed in a precarious position.

ahhhh...then we get the photo. And I love it! It is so rare that I get a good picture of the three of us. The hero (my husband) is behind the camera making this a magical Mother Day photo to remember the rest of the year.

This photo was taken on our hike down to Meadowdale County Park Beach. Check out the last time we went here. The boys have grown so much!

Now I can't leave out my hubby. They are watching the train go by. Well- at least Cade & Daddy are- Mojo is actually more interest in ME! And in case you are wondering WHAT he is wearing- it is an 'Indiana Jones' costume top.

Alright- here is to making it 6 weeks. Only 46 to go!
