One of the places that we always wanted to eat was the Herb Farm. At our 5 year Anniversary mark we took this plunge and our limited palettes had the most wonderful food experience of our lives. This experience truly opened my mind to trying new things (heaven forbid it, even mushrooms- umm still don't like these by the way.)
So for our 10 year anniversary we decided to skip next door to it's sister restaurant, The Barking Frog. We were not disappointed. If you are not a foody OR if you are hungry, I would not blame you for closing this blog now...
Wine-Bottle:
2006 Pinot Noir, Erath Vineyards, Oregon
Appetizer:
Grand Mariner Prawns with Micro Arugula and Orange Segments. The prawns were lightly fried for a wonderful texture.
Salad Course:
Shared- Warm Dungeness Crab Timbale with Green Apples, butter braised leeks and spiced walnuts. This was the star of the evening and I am sad to have NOT taken a picture of it. The apples set off the saltiness of the crab very well.
Shared- Baby Romaine Caesar with White Anchovy & Lemon Aioli Bruschetta and sliced Parmeggiano Reggiano. Ohhhh- I love PR...but Bob had to eat my anchovy, I had to draw the line somewhere!
Main Course- Fish:
Grilled Halibut on a bed of Asparagus and slow smoked tomato compote with homemade pasta. I will let the picture do the talking on this one...
Main Course-Butcher Block:
Kobe Beef Shoulder with Lobster Ravioli. Again, take a look at the picture for this scruptuous piece of butchery. When the server acknowledges that the 'Chef' recommends medium since it will be tenderest due to all the connective tissue in the cut of meat- you take that recommendation...
Dessert Wine-Glass:
2006 Quady Winery ‘Essensia’, Orange Muscat, California (Mom- you would have loved this one. It was sweet and yummy!)
Dessert (Times 3!):
Trilogy of Ice Cream Sandwiches - (1) Chocolate Chip Cookie with Chocolate Ice Cream, (2) Buttered Prailine Cookie with Prailine Ice Cream, and (3) Shortbread Cookie with Strawberry Ice Cream. Nothing proper here people! Just pick these up with your hands people and take a lustful bite!
Chocolate Molten Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream and fresh raspberries.
Black Raspberry and Pear Sorbet with fress raspberries. This was my favorite- the tartness of the off season berries was a beautiful compliment to the sweetness of the sorbet. Plus, they wrote 'Happy Anniversary on the plate IN CHOCOLATE!
Happy Ending:
Green Tea with Honey
And that was our over 3 hour eating experience, I hope you enjoyed... We had a beautiful evening for just the two of us. It ended with a bang when we pick up our two bright eyed boys from our wonderful friends. You know who you are- thank you for watching them!
Oh- I will send you a picture of my beautiful anniversary gift later. Bob is so good to me!!!
Have a great day!
